Saturday 5th November Winchester Fire Works

As part of our continued program of partnership with the Winchester Roundtable volunteers from the Joe Glover Trust turned up on the night to be marshals for an event that attracted over 22,000 people, trustees and friends of tJGT helped sell firework night goodies to the visitors and well act as car park attendant and security stewards one keen friend having put the yellow coat on felt he had the power to arrest! Fortunately no such situation occurred.”

Great South Run 2011

55 runners took part in The Great South Run, raising over £7,000 for the trust. It was a wet start for our runners but the spirits were high. We are very proud of all our runners and those who were in fancy dress and Rob Barrow who ran in Full Fire Kit and BA.

All That Glitters Ball 2011

The Joe Glover Trust Ball was a glittering success with 270 guests. From the Glitter Themed room, and the sensational performance from Fully Funktional Band we raised a staggering £24,000 for the trust.

3 Peaks Challenge 2011 – Completed

Iron Man 2011

Sports Massage Students Raise £500

The Level 3 and 4 sports massage students at Adult Continuing Education centre, Peter Symonds College Winchester are proud to have supported the Joe Glover Trust this year. This fantastic sum of money has been raised by providing pre and post race sports massage treatments, for donations, at Gosport Half Marathon and the Stubbington, Winchester, Eastleigh and Ropley 10 k road races. It is a tribute to the student’s commitment to gaining and attaining the techniques and professionalism which inspired the competitors to be so generous with their donations to this very worthy cause. Many thanks to those who contributed towards this amazing amount of money and a well done to the students for their efforts.

Piam Brown Project – Parent’s Room

We have completed our second project at the Piam Brown Ward at Southampton General Hospital, a specialised children’s cancer unit. This project was to redecorate and furnish the parents’ and quiet rooms in conjunction with our community partner, John Lewis. We replaced the old sofas with brand new leather corner sofas and sofa beds, vital for parents visiting the ward when a child is being treated. John Lewis also kindly donated a television and DVD player along with new curtains for both of the rooms. The project resulted in the two rooms being transformed into cosy, warm and welcoming spaces.

Jane Buchanan, Charity Fund Manager and Events Coordinator at the Piam Brown Ward was thrilled with the transformations and commented:

“No words will ever be able to adequately convey the gratitude we feel for all the support the trust offers the ward and our individual families. The Joe Glover Trust is special in so many ways and we have nothing but the greatest admiration for the manner in which they conduct their business whilst supporting our young patients.”
